About Us

Building on over 25 years of experience in the design industry, we started Howark in 2017. Having both worked at prestigious design companies -  which exposed us to extraordinary projects in the UK and Internationally - we wanted to apply our experience and knowledge in a more personal way.

We love the intimacy and focus that comes from working directly with clients and getting to know each individual - their character and quirks.  This is what Howark is all about. We are a purposefully small team that takes on a select number of projects so we can fully immerse ourselves in every aspect to give it the care and creativity it deserves.

We believe really great design enhances life and that the process of creating beautiful, well-thought-out homes should be an enjoyable and collaborative process from beginning to end.

How we work

Imagination

We love thinking outside of the box and taking a fresh approach to ensure no two projects are ever the same. Creating bespoke pieces with talented craftspeople means each project is filled with unique character, creating the atmospheric spaces Howark is known for.

Honesty

Good communication is key to all successful projects. We will always say if we think something isn’t going to work and why - in turn we encourage our clients to be honest with their feedback.

Responsibility

We champion ethical consumption. Wherever possible we reuse interesting textiles and materials, sourced locally where possible to our projects and we try to avoid single-use plastics.

Enthusiasm

The design process should be enjoyable, not dry or overly formal. We want clients to be excited about our meetings together and the design process from beginning to end.

Tucked away in an old coaching yard in a quiet area of Chiswick, West London, Howark’s HQ at the Courtyard is a particularly verdant and inspiring creative haven away from the bustling streets of West London.

In Howark’s signature saturated hues, a lofty victorian stable block houses the main workspace, with a wooden clad annexe housing the material library and an adjoining meeting room is in the wisteria covered main building. Full of a myriad of samples collected over the past 7 years, the library is often a starting point on a project, where colours are decided, specialist finishes are developed and textures are explored. Meetings held in Howark’s studio always provide a fantastic creative backdrop to converse and discuss ideas and concepts, with the spaces truly reflecting the warmth and energy of Howark’s design work.
